6-9 cookies
- Serves:
- 7-9
ingredients
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1⁄2 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
directions
- Mix the egg and sugar in a bowl, stirring well with a whisk.
- Begin melting the butter, preferably in a small pan for about a minute and a half.
- Add flour and baking powder to the bowl from step 1 and mix them together.
- Add melted butter to the bowl (You'll use some in step 4, so save some) and mix.
- Let the mixture sit for 10 to 20 minutes and the dough will thicken, it will then be easier to pour into the madeleine mold.
- Take a brush and put some butter on the madeleine mold and put a little bit of flour in it. This will make it easier to take the cookie out of the mold.
- Pour the dough into the mold.
- Bake for about 20 minutes in an oven preheated at 170 degrees (approx. 340˚F).
- Take them out of the mold and let them cool.
- Enjoy!

Great madeleine recipe!!! I love that this is for a small amount as the madeleines don't have time to go stale before they all get eaten!!!! I used Pillsbury Softasilk flour because it is pre-sifted for light cakes, it worked out great and created light, crisp, and buttery madeleines! I also had to know what Manga was and who Kitchen Princess was, so I found this on the internet....The story follows Najika Kazami, an orphan and an excellent chef from Hokkaid, and her arrival at Seika Academy, an escalator school. Not only does she plan to become a great chef like her deceased parents, but she also sets out to find her "Flan Prince", a boy that saved her from falling into a river and gave her a cup of flan with a silver spoon with the school's emblem on it. She promised him she would make the most delicious dessert in the world. I found out that each recipe that the Kitchen Princess makes is also published in the back of the magazines. Wouldn't Julia Child just love that such a beloved French recipe is being taught and celebrated in today's publications for kids to learn and enjoy!!! Thanks so much for posting, Leslieee!!!! I enjoyed learning about the Kitchen Princess and I love your recipe!!!
