Make Perfect Ice Tea

"I cut this recipe out of a Kraft Food Magazine a couple of months ago. I don't know if it is perfect but it does make nice ice tea. We have only made the sweetened tea. If you want to use sweetened tea, read instructions thoroughly to make as directed."

directions

  • Place tea bags and baking soda in a large heat resistant glass measuring cup.
  • Add 2 cups of boiling water. Cover and steep for 15 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags and pour tea into a 2 quart pitcher.
  • Add 6 cups of cold water. If you have hard water, use filtered water or bottled water.
  • For sweetened tea, put approximately 1 cup of sugar (adjust to taste) in 2 quart pitcher. Then pour tea concentrate from step 2, and after sugar has dissolved, add 6 cups of cold water.
  • To avoid cloudiness, cool to room temperature before refrigerating.
  • Garnish with lemon or mint and serve over ice.
  • Store in refrigerator for up to 2 days.

  1. SO tasty! Thank you! I was looking for a sugar free and caffeine free iced tea for my kids and me. I used 6 of the Good Earth sweet and spicy tea. It's perfect. My 12 year old son just told me it's better than soda. That is about the best compliment I could ever get!! Can't wait to try it with all different teas.

  2. I initially made this for my ladies bible study, and it was a huge hit. This is now the only way I make ice tea.

  3. We in the South gotta have our iced tea! Happynana this was just delicious! This makes the right fit anytime of the day! Prepared as a participant in the Feb 2010 Afternoon Tea & Light Suppers Event and also in the Aus/NZ Swap #37.

  4. My son has just discovered iced tea. This recipe pleases him immensely; it's SO much better than the tea I used to make! Next time I'll halve the recipe, though. Made for Aus/NZ recipe swap.

  5. I agree -- finally the answer to no cloudiness and weird taste. This is very good tea. I'm so glad I played the tag game and found this one. Wonderful idea! Never thought to put baking soda in the mix. Made for I Recommend Tag Game 2010.

I am a real estate agent along with my husband, Mike. I enjoy meeting people and helping them sell or find a home. I have been happily married for 27 years. We have 1 daugther and 3 grandsons. My favorite recipes are from Paula Deen. I love to cook and eat -- that is why I workout 5 to 6 times a week. I enjoy Bible study, cooking, working out at the gym and reading. My husband and I love spending time with our grandsons who live about 45 miles from us. We are quick to give Our Heavenly Father credit for all the wonderful blessings in our life. My pet peeves are greed and people who are always late. I love this site and it is so much fun. I have met many nice chefs while participating in the contests. I think it is unfair when chefs change an original recipe and then give a low rating. The way I will rate recipes: 5***** Delicious Recipes that we enjoyed and will want to have again and again. 4****Recipes that I would make again but make some changes. 3***Recipes that I would probably not try again without some major changes. I will not give a 1 or 2 rating as I know that the chefs that took time to enter the recipe felt it was deserving to share. I just have different tastes than them. <a href="http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/?action=view¤t=curriedcurrajongs.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/curriedcurrajongs.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/boronia.jpg"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z205/jubespage/AussieRecipeSwap.gif"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PAC08Main.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/Cooking-Kangaroo-1-1.jpg"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PACfall08partic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/IWasAdoptedfall08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/7016b640.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e110/flower753/Food/my3chefsnov2008.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/AMpageSticker.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/CookathonforKarensticker.jpg"><img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/KBparticipation.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/TagRed-STKR.jpg"><img src=http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii31/bleupantry/RecipeZaar%20and%20other%20Food/Top%20Favs%20of%202008%20GAME/ParticipationBanner.jpg><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"><img src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2/kiwidutch/my3chefs2009final-1.jpg">
