Mama's Chip Cookies

"I wanted to use up my miniature chocolate chips, and I found this recipe in My Great Recipes. I like the smaller chocolate chips better because you get a more even distribution of walnuts, chocolate, and cookie dough. I made this with butter. I used the butter wrapper to grease the pans (just say no to cooking spray and save money). I also made my cookies a tad bigger. Yum!"

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the shortening, white and brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until light.
  • Stir flour, soda, and salt together and stir into the creamed mixture.
  • Blend in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  • Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
  • Drop dough by small teaspoonfuls onto the prepared pans.
  • Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes or until just golden.
  • Remove from oven and cool on racks.
