ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken, lamb or 1 lb beef
- 3 tablespoons chickpea flour
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon whole coriander seed, pods (roast in dry pan to toast for one moment)
- 1 tablespoon dried pomegranate seeds, coarsely crushed
- 2 finely chopped spring onions
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 chopped tomato (try to keep out the wet pulp of the tomato, if the mince meat mixture gets too wet, just add a tad m)
- 1 -2 chopped green chili
- 1 cup cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ghee or 1 teaspoon butter
- salt
directions
- Mix all of these ingredients together. Allow the mixture to sit for about 30 minutes to bind. Shape into patties and shallow fry in a tiny drop of oil. For a party you could press a slice of tomato into each patty and give it a flatter, more irregular shape like an authentic chappli kabab.

Yum! These are great, the spices not overwhelming but very flavourful. Usually I don't like cilantro and omit it in recipes as I hardly can get it here anyway, but in this recipe I did add it (dried, though, no fresh one available). I'm glad I did, it makes all the difference. The pomegranate seeds lend a slightly tart note which I liked a lot and which went well with the chili. If you can't get it, use sumac or some lemon, but don't omit the tart compound! I'll definitely make these again. Thanks for sharing :)
Made for ZWT 8 / India for the Lively Lemon Lovelies

I have a Farmers Market stand where I sell breads and sweets. I am really enjouing my stand, as I get to make all kinds of breads, although the sweets are the big attraction! I am married to theworlds most wonderful man, have an aan amazingly brilliant child (of course I would say that!). In short, I am a verry happy, cheerful woman. Baking bread is my passion, but I love to cook anything.
