Meat Lovers Cheating Lasagna

"Easy 6 ingredient Triple meat (pepperoni, sausage and hamburger) lasagna made easier by using frozen cheese ravioli instead of the noodles & ricotta mixture. Tastes just like regular lasagna but much better with the meat combination. A must if you are a meat lovers pizza fan. (and fabulous even if your not). A wonderful new spin on lasagna that I just threw together for a birthday dinner."

directions

  • In a large frying pan, cook the sausage and ground beef together with the chopped onions until no longer pink and drain all grease.
  • Cook ravioli according to package directions (only for about 3 minutes or so I think) Drain and rinse in cold water.
  • In a 13x9 baking dish, spread a small amount of sauce (just enough to cover bottom) and layer enough ravioli to cover.
  • Stack the slices of pepperoni and cut them into narrow strips and spread half of it over the ravioli.
  • Now spread all the meat over that and pour the remaining sauce on top of it.
  • Sprinkle with 1-1/2 cups mozzerella cheese, then layer the remaining ravioli and cheese and sprinkle all of the garlic powder on it.
  • Spread the remaining half of pepperoni strips on top of cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake at 375* for about 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake uncovered another 10 minutes or until cheese and pepperoni are golden.
  • Serve with no yeast Beer Bread (recipe# 73440).

  1. this was amazing! I invited our best friends over for dinner and made a double batch of this knowing we would love it and want leftovers. I baked it in Wiltons sheet pan and it was perfect. Had to bake quite a while to become less soupy. All 7 of us LOVED it. Most had seconds. super easy to make although slightly costly after all the cheese and pepperoni in it, but sooo worth it. Surprisingly both my hubs and myself felt it didn't reheat and taste as good as the first round. But man, that first round was awesome! thanks.

  2. Thanks for sharing a tasty versatile recipe -JL-!! I didn't have the right size of *anything*, so I probably wasn't totally true to the recipe, but it came out very good. I used light raviolis, 2% mozzarella, turkey pepperoni since in our neck of the woods sandwich pepperoni is hard to come by, and 97% lean ground beef. I used a local brand of hot sausage which was good for flavor. For sauce I used Newman's Own Sockaroni spaghetti sauce. Next time I will probably add some spices to the meat while I am browning it to give the dish a bit more omph. I also think if you like mushrooms they would be great either sauteed with the meat or layered into the dish. Maybe it was my loose interpretation of amounts, but this made WAY more than 4-6 servings, which is fine for us. We'll have leftovers during the week when time is short. Served with garlic bread and a salad for a great Friday night supper!

  3. Very filling and delicious. Took a bit of time to prepare but well worth the effort.

  4. I have had this recipe saved to my cookbook for a while now, knowing that my meat eating husband would just love this tasty treat--and I was right! I actually used meat filled ravioli instead of cheese filled. I also used real garlic instead of powder. I used a combo of mozza and cheddar cheese. I made this during my once a month cooking blitz and threw it into the freezer. I thawed it overnight and baked it for supper last night! Delicious. Even the kids enjoyed it. My husband thanks you for this meaty version of lasagne!

  5. Great dish! It does taste like lasagna. I ended up adding almost twice the sauce (was just layering it on and it seemed like the right amount). It worked fine, it wasn't soupy at all - was much like lasagna would be. I used less garlic powder and cheese and skipped the sausage (it definitely had plenty of meat without it). I agree with the other reviewers, this can serve twice as many as stated, it is quite filling. A nice meld of flavors and a satisfying dish.
