- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1⁄3 cup grape nuts cereal
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (1 ounce) package mushroom gravy mix
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3⁄4 cup dry red wine
- 1 cup water
- 1⁄2 onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, cut in strips
- 1 medium tomatoes, cut in wedges
- hot cooked rice
directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine milk, grape nuts, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Let stand 10 minutes. Add ground beef and mix well. Shape into 15 meatballs. In a 10 inch skillet, brown meatballs on all sides. Remove to a platter; drain off excess fat from pan. In small bowl, combine gravy mix, cornstarch, wine and water. Pour mixture into skillet; cook and stir until mixture bubbles. Add meatballs and chopped onion. Simmer, covered, 15 minutes. Add green pepper; cover and cook 10 minutes longer. Add tomato and heat through. Serve over hot cooked rice.
