Mexican Bunuelos

"My mom used to make these every year with her Spanish class students. We LOVE them! Kind of a mexican version of elephant ears, but different. VERY addicting! This makes a lot, so you may want to cut the recipe in half."

  1. These are an amazing and easy to make treat. Don't believe me? I, a 15 year old highschool student and my friend, also a 15 year old made them perfectly in about 25 minutes. (Ironically for a spanish project)

  2. I never thought of doing Buñuelos in a ball (they tasted like Churros, so my Hubby said)...lol My family loved these. I have a recipe for Buñuelos, which I will post. Mine has white wine in it and other ingredients. Thanks for the recipe. My daughter enjoyed putting them into balls.

  3. The recipe was not very straightforward. Ours turned out burned and they tasted horrible. The cinnamon sugar wouldn't stay on so we used powdered sugar instead.

  4. To everyone who thinks they messed up. THIS PIC IS EXTREMELY MISLEADING. I noticed on some posts here that some of you may have not flattened your balls. Buñuelos are fried flat discs of dough. There is a direction in this recipe that is easy to miss. YOU MUST FLATTEN THE BALLS BEFORE FRYING. Look at other buñuelo recipes online or do an image search and you'll see what I mean

  5. We made them in a flatter 16 inch circle. Added brushed butter before sugar mixture. Dip in syrup. Wow.
