  • Saute peppers, onion, & garlic in oil with rosemary and basil until veggies are tender.
  • Stir in rice, tomato, salt, pepper, & picante to taste (I used approx 3/4 jar).
  • Cook & stir for 3-5 minutes.
  • Add water; cover and cook on low, stirring frequently, until rice is done.

  1. This is a good Mexican rice recipe but you didn't give a time for how long to cook the rice. I cooked mine about 15 minutes but I think it could have stood another 5 or 10 minutes cooking time. Made for My 3 Chefs 2013.

I was born & raised in Texas, but now I travel the country with my husband for his work in the wind industry. I love traveling with him and our two wonderful dogs though it keeps us away from our families for long periods of time. I love 'Zaar because I dont have to travel with bulky, limited cookbooks; every recipe I can imagine is always at my fingertips! I do a lot of Tex-Mex cooking because we're are usually "up North" and, no offense, but the food can be rather bland up this way. I love flavorfull, heart-warming meals that keep 'em coming back for more!
