"Isn't it interesting that Michigans are not known by that name in Mighican? I believe they are only known as Michigans in northern New York (my hometown)."

  1. Not even close. I live in Plattsburgh NY . Home of the original Michigan and this is not it. If you want the recipe try this : 2lbs burger - 1 tsp cumin - 1 tbls onion flakes - 1tsp black pepper - 3/4 tsp garlic salt - 1/4 cup of "Franks" hot sauce - 16 oz can of tomato sauce. NO Chili powder!! Brown the burger and drain. Add all the other ingredients and simmer for ten minutes. Serve over hotdogs. I like mine with mustard and onions buried.

  2. Very good Michigan sauce. I'm from Burlington, Vermont and it is called "Michigan" sauce there too. If you are ever in Burlington, go to Battery Park and get a Michigan Hot Dog from "Beansies Bus", it is a city landmark and have been their many generations.

  3. Not just in NY! We learned of this "Michigan" recipe while in Washington State from a Montana guy! These are great to top dogs!

  4. I first had this sauce years ago with my sister-in-law in Plattsburgh, New York..How I begged for the recipe!! I lost it over the years and was thrilled to find it here. Thanks MFL666 this is an awesome sauce. I freeze in ziploc bags with enough for a package of hot dogs as it get hotter each time you re-heat.

  5. I was born in Burlington and lived just a few blocks from Battery Park. It is all about the french fries with apple cider vinegar for me from the bus!!!!
