Questions & Replies

  1. I make the fudge with butter scotch and it doesn't harden the only thing I change is the sugar I don't put the whole 3 cups in. Does the sugar help it harden I do put vanilla in.

  2. so I made it but its very sugary and not becoming smooth like fudge. Any ideas on how to fix it?

  3. HELP! This recipe would always make the best creamy fudge. We had an 1100 watt microwave. We had to get a new one at 1200 watts. Totally ruined the first batch. Adjusted the time, but the second one is still not as good. How do you adjust the wattage???

  1. This was a very poorly written recipe. I followed it to the letter!! There is to much cook time and not enough description on how to adjust the recipe for various wattage of microwaves. This was a complete and utter disaster and I wasted good money on this one. Stay away from this recipe and look for another one. This was horrid.

  2. I have made this fudge since it came out 35 + years. It NEVER FAILS if you follow recipe exactly (as in any recipe) and have correct wattage microwave!

  3. Turns out just like stove top method ~ less mess less time ! White fudge is my favorite !

  4. I used this recipe over and over year after year and as long as you actually measure out the evaporated milk and don't assume the recipe calls for a whole can (the can is 12 oz I learned that the hard way) then this turns out exactly right!!! I also use it to make peanut butter fudge using the peanut butter chips and it's amazing!

  5. I am 62 years and an excellent cook and baker, on the stovetop, oven, grill, and with the microwave. I owned a restaurant for a few years that made all kinds of holiday treats. I want to save someone the time and wasting of ingredients. DO NOT MAKE THIS RECIPE. My microwave's output wattage is 1000. I followed the receipe to the letter, very carefully. Like many, many of the other comments, the fudge is gritty, grainy, set up so fast you could hardly press it in the pan, but I was able to. It is inedible. Is it very grainy. Something is wrong with this receipe or it just does snot work. Trust me. Move onto another receipe.

Tweaks

  1. Added a cup of Coconut

  2. Wonderful! I am terrible with cooking candy to a certain temperature on the stove, so I was glad to find this recipe! This tastes just wonderful and I love how firm it gets at room temperature. I have a new 1800 watt microwave, and I cooked the butter mixture for a total of 9 minutes, stirring 3 or 4 times. I used 1% milk instead of evaporated. And instead of all chocolate chips, I used some Reese's peanut butter chips and some semi-sweet chocolate. (You really need a little more PB than chocolate for a great taste.) Delicious fudge!
