  • Sift all dry ingredients, add eggs one at a time, beating well.
  • Add butter and applesauce.
  • Beat until well blended.
  • Dredge nuts and raisins with flour, add them last.
  • Pour batter into a tube pan which has been greased and lined with waxed paper. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour or until done.
  • Glaze: Combine all ingredients and boil for one minute, pour over cake while hot.
  • During Christmas I add 1 cup dried fruit and I garnish with red and green Marschino cherries.
