Minnesota Bars

"For chocolate-peanut butter lovers! This recipe is a family tradition. Our family couldn't wait to get Minnesota bars mailed to us from Grandma every Christmas. My sister and I would also make them with our grandmother when we would visit. I don't know where the name came from--my dad spent some of his childhood in Minnesota."

 1. I think they are called Minnesota bars because of the oats which is a crop that is grown there.

I am giving it five stars for fool-proofiness. I used chunky peanut butter and we lived. I like peanut butter but my son thought that it was overwhelming. I think that next time I might add another half cup of chocolate to even it out a little more.

 2. This was a great gluten and dairy free recipe. My husband thanks you a hundred times over. Finally he has a dessert/treat to bring to gatherings that everyone can enjoy. It was very easy to make. I microwaved the chocolate chips and the peanut butter in a bowl for a minute and it stirred right together. I store mine in the refrigerator to keep the chocolate firm.

 5. I think I didn't quite cook these long enough because the bottom is way too soft and crumbly but the crust tastes sooo yummy still. I will make them again I'm sure! It is definitely worth the trial and error til I figure out the right temp and time for my oven!
