ingredients
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1⁄2 cup oil
- 1⁄2 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
directions
- Mix boiling water and remaining ingredients till well blended.
- pour into an oiled 9x5" loaf pan.
- bake at 350* for approximately one hour.or tests done -- a few moist crumbs may appear on wooden tester.

This bread is fabulous! I did however follow the advice of beancooker who decreased the brown sugar...i really wish i wouldn't have... i would have liked it a little sweeter. so for those of you out there that like a sweet bread follow the recipe exactly...if you like a less sweet bread then decrease the brown sugar. i did only bake this for 45 minutes as well and it came out perfect...mine did not drip over the pan at all (not even close to the top) thanks grandma 2969 for posting a great recipe!!!!

This bread has great texture and flavor. I did encounter one small problem. Using a standard bread loaf pan, the batter rose up and dripped all over my oven. (thank goodness for foil liners.)Also felt it was a little sweet and will try next time to reduce the amount of brown sugar but there will definately be a next time.The molasses flavor comes through just right.

I love cooking, and reading Christian fiction..I have 5 grandchildren..4 boys and 1 spoiled granddaughter...I also have a black cocker spaniel named Tobey..who is very spoiled..Love computer games, cross stitch and reading cookbooks..I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia almost a year ago, on September 26, 2005....was in an out of the hospital for 8 months, doing intensive chemo...I am doing well now, thanks for all the prayers...
