- 1 cup sugar, plus more for rolling cookie dough in
- 3⁄4 cup shortening
- 2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons molasses
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon clove
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 3⁄4 teaspoons baking soda
directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix sugar and shortening.
- Add egg and molasses.
- Mix flour, spices, baking powder and baking soda. Add dry ingredients to sugar mix.
- Form into little balls and roll in sugar.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
