Mom's Beef Stroganoff

"This is a favorite with all of my family. Not sure where my mother got the recipe so many years ago, but it is different than the creamy white stroganoff so many people make. It really is very good. Serve this with egg noodles or rice."

  1. This is another recipe I’ve been making for 50+ years. But the version I make includes prepared horseradish and sherry wine or burgundy as added ingredients. The recipe was originally published in the LA Times when I was a kid in Jack Lalanne’s food column. My kids grew up with this and love it. They still ask me to make it. I always make a huge batch because it’s better on day 2 or 3 and everyone wanted to take the leftovers for lunch.

  2. I am so glad I found this! This is how my father made stroganoff while I was growing up. Lost the recipe and my husband was asking me to make this. Everyone should give this a recipe a try. It's AWESOME! Thanks for posting it.

  3. I learned to make this Beef Stroganoff at King Ranch when I was young. I've been winging it for almost 40 yrs because I could never find the recipe after I lost the 1st one. This is my absolute favorite rendition, and Thank you for putting it in print.

  5. Your mom's recipe is closer to the original Russian dish than the "white" versions! Can't wait to try this.
