Mom's Chili

"One of my favorites. My mom has made this for my birthday for more than 25 years. Its very warm and hearty on a cold day. * hot chili powder can be used to make it spicier. * This yields a big pot, extra freezes nicely in a ziplock for another day. Crackers and/or buttered bread go great with this meal."

  • In a large stock pot combine meat, pepper, onion, and chili powder, salt, and pepper. Using med.- high heat cook until meat is brown and onion and pepper start to soften.
  • Once the meat, pepper, and onion is ready add the beans and tomatoes and mix.
  • Simmer for at least 20 minutes, I prefer for it to simmer for about 45 minutes.
