directions

  • Season meat with salt& pepper.
  • Brown in skillet.
  • Combine applesauce, onion, catsup, water, soy sauce and sage.
  • Pour over meat.
  • Cover and simmer 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
  • I've cooked it longer and it is still tender, moist and the sauce it has simmered in is mouth-watering!
  • Use yellow or red onion-- I prefer red onion.
  • I've even used cinnamon applesauce I had on hand and the chops were just as tasty and delicious.
  • Often served with spanish rice and a green vegetable.
  • I hope you enjoy this family recipe.

  1. The flavors of this are really great! I followed it exactly and have no complaints! Thank you!

  2. We all loved it! I also used garlic powder to season the meat while it browned. I took your advice and made a prepared Spanish rice and had green beans. Thanks for a simple "Keeper"!

  3. I cooked two chops but did not cut back on the sauce. Served this over rice and the sauce was terrific. Used homemade apple sauce, half the ketcup and fresh sage. Turned out great. Thanks Snuggie

  4. I just made this tonight and we both really liked it. Very simple to get started, then leave alone.

  5. I added this to my cookbook over a year ago, but never made it. I finally did today and am so sorry that I waited. It was very easy to make and the flavors blended nicely. It is so easy to go from tender to tough in a chop, this recipe is almost foolproof.

I live in South Florida with my adorable husband and a spoiled cat (kids are raised and out of the nest). I've never been one of those "I LOVE to COOK Women" , I considered it a necessary evil, like washing laundry and housework. However, after stumbling upon this website, I've combined computer fun with recipe searching and am amazed at the abundance of great ideas you can find here.
