"A simple little nothing recipe, that results in big flavor. I use white onion with red potatoes, or red onion with white potatoes."

  1. This recipe (minus the onion)is one my husband's family loves! Whenever I make these I can't stop at just one serving. Montreal Steaking Seasoning is very strong smelling on meat, but when baked for such a long time on potatos it changes the flavor of it somehow. It's still recognizable, but softer, blended, caramely, and mixes with the sweetness of roasted potatos perfectly. We usually chunk the potatoes, toss with melted butter and an "eye-full" of the seasoning, bake for 45-60 mins tossing a few times to brown everything, and serve with fish or a roast. No need for ketchup!

  2. I didn't have any Montreal Steak Seasoning so I used KC Masterpiece Steak Seasoning. And I added a little garlic. Overall they were very good. I think I will cube the potatoes next time unstead of slicing them though.

  3. I'm sorry we didn't like it more. Montreal ssteak seasoning was way to salty for us.

  4. This was really good. Used baby yukon golds -cut in half and microwave for 10 min to get them soft then finished off in the oven since i was short on time. Still yummy! Left out the onions (DH does not like) Thanks!

  5. Succulent, easy potatoes. I used regular old Idahos - some peeled, some not - with a delicious result. Keeper, for sure.

I am from Western Canada and have been cooking since I can remember. When I was 17 I moved to Florida for awhile to take care of an ailing Grandparent. It was there I feel I really 'learned' to cook, as I was his primary caregiver for a year. I have always loved trying new recipes, and I 'read' cookbooks like others read novels.
