directions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a small container.
  • Brown one pound of ground beef or turkey and drain fat away. (I prefer ground turkey. There is no fat to drain away and it crumbles into tiny pieces very easily.).
  • Throw in seasoning mix and 3/4 cup of water and mix well with your ground meat.
  • Simmer until thick --
  • Note: combine your taco meat with about half of a can of refried beans for a delicious burrito or chimichanga filling.

  1. This is the absolute BEST taco seasoning ever!! It's quick, easy & delicious - definitely the only taco seasoning we'll be using from now on. I've made it 2 times now, the first time as written & this time I used smoked paprika. I added the dehydrated onion (both times) & left out the flour this time. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Carol ??

  2. I make Mexican all the time and this comes in so handy. It costs pennies to make and much more to buy... Now that I am out of work it is important that I pinch pennies when I can!

  3. Great seasoning mix. I did add 1 t. Mexican oregano but otherwise made as written. Great flavor and used 2 T. for 8 oz. beef.

  4. This is such a great, easy recipe! Tonight I made enchiladas, and I used this seasoning mix in the ground beef. The only change I made was to add about 1/4 tsp. of oregano. The meat was good all by itself (I had to have a nibble), and the enchiladas were some of the best I had ever had! I also made your Mexican rice, Recipe #117892, to go with the meal. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us.

  5. Who needs those packets of taco seasoning from the store when you have this recipe? I used nice fresh spices from Penzeys, and used the optional onion flakes, and it was a winner!

Tweaks

  1. Delightful! Another great seasoning recipe to keep in my growing cookbooks! I made as listed with one exception~ I realized I was out of boullion, so I subbed beef broth for the water (hoping to kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak). I used ground turkey and made my Working Mom's Layeres Nachos Recipe #225032. Turned our GREAT!! Thans for posting wonderful spice mix, Pot Scrubber!! ZWT3
