- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup water
- 5 tablespoons cocoa
- frosting
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 5 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons whipping cream
- 1 box powdered sugar
directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl mix sugar and flour.
- In a saucepan mix butter, water and cocoa; heat until ingredients are blended and add to the dry ingredients.
- Add buttermilk, baking soda aned eggs; mix well-the batter will be wet but not stiff.
- Pour into a greased and floured 9X14 pan and bake for 25-30 minutes-it will be just slightly baked.
- In a saucepan mix butter, cocoa and whipping cream.
- Heat, stirring until blended.
- Add powdered sugar.
- Pour frosting over hot cake.
- Let cool and serve.
