My Favorite Cookie Icing/Frosting

"I have used several different icing recipes on my cookies over the years and this is by far my favorite. I find that cookie glaze, while simple and easy, doesn't have enough flavor and is almost impossible to do any real decorating with. My 4-yr-old DS loves to help me decorate cookies and this frosting even stands up when piped on, just like you would decorate a cake."

  1. Love the almond flavoring in this icing! Go easy if you're using regular food coloring because it can make it a tiny bit runny if you use more than a few drops. We iced our World's Best Butter Cookies (recipe #50684) with these, then put the icing in little zip-top bags and cut a tiny bit of the corner off to pipe on the detail. They turned out beautifully! Thanks for sharing, Melanie!

  2. just iced snickerdoodle Christmas Cookies with this, will certainly use this recipe again... EEEEEzy and delicious!

  3. This is a great recipe! I looked at others but they called for corn syrup (which I NEVER use), or evaporated milk (I didn't have any on hand). I already had everything I needed for this recipe and it was so easy to make that my 11 year-old DD made it on her own. We will definitely make this again!
