My Mom's Maple Syrup Recipe

"My mom was making this before I was born, I guess her mom taught it to her. She taught it to me (my wife actually) and now I'm giving it to you."

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 lb brown sugar
  • 1 cup Dark Karo syrup
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavoring

directions

  • Combine ingredients in a 2 quart saucepan and bring to a boil while stirring.
  • Reduce heat.
  • Keep stirring and let it "cook" until the sugar is completely incorporated.
  • Enjoy!

  1. Will admit that there's nothing like a simple, REAL MAPLE SYRUP, but this recipe makes a nice substitute that IS tasty! I cut the recipe in half 'cause I didn't need that much, but it is a quick do, when you don't have the real thing! {Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this Spring's Pick-A-Chef]
