Nanny's Molasses Cookies

ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup shortening
- 6 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1⁄2 cup hot water
- 3 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 egg
directions
- Mix ingredients together.
- Let stand in cool place for 1 hour.
- Roll into 1-inch balls and flatten with fork.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

I made these cookies because I love molasses, but I thought they would be a crispy cookie. I tend to like the crispy cookie better and was really struggling with how to rate them. So, I carried it to the next highest authority. I carried them to work and they passed the test. The people here loved them just the way they were. I was told that I could make these anytime I wanted and bring them to work.
