  • Place beans in a saucepan, cover with water and soak overnight or If you can't soak overnight, place beans in a pot with water to cover and bring to a boil. Boil one minute and turn off heat. Let stand for one hour. After one hour drain and add chicken broth and water to cover. Add onion, celery and carrot. Bring to a boil and cook until done. Remove ham bone an dice meat.
  • Return meat to bean pot.
  • Adjust salt & pepper.
  • Serve.

  2. My family has had a tradition of Navy bean soup, since I can remember for the day before a major cooking holiday. I chose this one, and it turned out great. I couldn't ask for anything better. This beats half the population that go to McDonalds on that day. The only thing I had to do was add some sausage , because I only had 1 ham hock.
