"need a Pick-Me-Up" Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie (No

"I love coffee but I have come to accept the fact that coffee just does not love me back (headaches, upset stomach, etc.) Sooo, this is the recipe I reach for when I need a healthy pick-me-up in the morning. It is peanut buttery, and slightly chocolatey. Enjoy."

directions

  • Cut banana into chunks.
  • Combine 1/3 banana chunks and milk and use hand blender or regular blender to mix well. I use a hand blender and blend in a hard plastic cup. Slowly add rest of banana and blend.
  • Add peanut butter. Blend well.
  • Add cocoa powder and push powder underneath liquid so as to not splatter when turning on blender.
  • Blend well.
  • Enjoy!

  1. The chocolate and banana together was quite tasty, and I enjoyed the Smoothie a lot. I think it might have been a little more to my liking if I had used sweetened cocoa though The amount of peanut butter is just right for me, because it left a hint of it without overpowering the multitude of other lovely flavors that mesh so well as this recipe is written. I liked the suggestions of perhaps adding a little coffee, too. Maybe I'll try that next time. Thank you for sharing your recipe, Azriel31. Made for Spring 2012 Pick-A-Chef.

  3. I made this for me and the kiddies for an afternoon pick-me-up. I seem to have the same problem with coffee as you;(. This did help with the energy level, however, I still miss the coffee, LOL. It was very rich, thick, creamy and pretty tasty. I did increase the PB by atleast a tablespoon, used 1% milk and added a couple packets of splenda. I will probably make it again but omit the cocoa powder and increase the PB even more. We love PB, alot, in my house ;). I think that the cocoa powder made it a little bitter and the kids wouldn't miss it. A little honey instead of the splenda might be good also. Thanks for the recipe, it'll be great when the kids are craving milkshakes, but I don't want to give in to ice cream.

  4. Pretty good! Very rich & creamy & filling! I found the peanut butter and cocoa made it a tad bitter - I think that could be corrected with a bit of Sugar Twin or other sugar substitute.

  5. Fantastic! I used a cup of skim milk and it was still great.
