ingredients

  • 3 -4 lbs stewing beef, cubed
  • 1 (10 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
  • 1 (1 1/4 ounce) package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 cup ginger ale, Canda Dry's my favourite
  • 2 tablespoons flour (optional)

directions

  • Place stewing beef in crock pot. Stir in mushrooms, soup mix and ginger ale.
  • Cook over low for 6-7 hours or high for 4-5 hours. You can cook it longer without a problem. Times may vary depending on your crock pot's temperature. I have thrown frozen beef cubes in and cooked for 8-9 hours with great results.
  • IF YOU WANT THICKER GRAVY: When done, scoop a cup into the gravy and mix the flour in the cup until completely dissolved. Pour back into the crock pot and heat, covered, over high until thickened, approximately 15 minutes.
  • You can serve over cooked potatoes and veggies. You can also add baby potatoes and veggies to the crock pot for the last 2 hours of cooking the stew.

  1. This was easy to throw together before going out the door in the morning. It is also made with ingredients I normally have on hand. My family found this a tad sweet - which they couldn't understand why as I didn't tell them the secret ingredient.

I love great food and I particularly like trying cuisines new to me! Although I don't prepare as much food as I used to, creating in my kitchen is still one of my favourite things to do. Enjoy!
