Questions & Replies

  1. Can these be frozen?

  2. I can’t believe the person that wrote this recipe forgot to tell how much peanut butter Optional, to put in this recipe! So tell us Food Guru, how much peanut butter?????

  3. How much peanut butter should I add?

  4. So because it didn't say how much peanut butter to use I used a little over a 1/2 a cup but I also have doubled my recipe but now oatmeal mixture is kinda runny! Too runny to make droplet mounds will it thicken ad mixture cools or do I probably need to add more oatmeal wich I am out of! So what does any good baker out there suggest I do? Havnt people used rice before in these cookies?

  5. Can we boil it in the microwave?PLEASW AWNSER

  1. I actually have a question how much peanut butter did you use? The recipe does not say?? Thank you..

  2. these are delicious, like melt in your mouth — amazing. i halved the recipe and used 1/4 cup peanut butter. i did end up having to cook a little more of the liquid (don’t know if i over cooked it originally or what but i just eyeballed it the second time around probs did about 1/2 of what i did originally) and it turned out perfect. i’d probably use a little less sugar next time, they’re pretty rich/sweet, but delicious. i will DEFINITELY be making these again.

  3. I cut this recipe in 1/2 because I was low on oatmeal- added about 1/4c peanut butter and they still turned out great and satisfies that sweet tooth!

  4. very good. have made these many times and followed the recipe pretty much exactly. i do use soymilk instead of regular - because that is normally what i have in the house. i also mix it all, over low heat, in a pot on the stove - that is just easier for me. these cookies are SO easy and they always turn out great. i recommend doubling the batch because these cookies go quickly.

  5. For those of your that didn't eat No-Bakes in the 80s and 90s- my elderly neighbor who was well into her 70s taught me a version of no bakes she has perfect over the years. My grandmother who owned a bakery also showed me a version of no bakes that was slightly different. No bakes never interested me because I was more into the technical precise chemistry part of baking(and we all know that regardless of chemistry, love needs to be an ingredient as well) The OP likely didn't put a measurement because they were giving everyone the opportunity to adjust the consistency as they see fit. Some people like more PB, some like less... I prefer cashew butter, since it's the closest to PB, but not many nut butter's are as smooth so therein lies a slight issue. But as far as measurements of PB, I would start with 1/4th cup, and check consistency, if it's not where you want it try doubling the PB. The no bake should taste more chocolate than PB, but some like a slightly different flavor, so I recommend tasting as you go.

Tweaks

  1. I'm using white chocolate chips and adding sweetened coconut flakes.

  2. Haha, I tried making it with my friend. But she was too scared to let it boil for the extra minute. It was still good! The Peanut butter goes well, but it depends on how much you add. So be careful! P. S. The cookies became soup. So be sure to boil it!

  3. Doubled the recipe. Reduced sugar amount by 1/2 cup. Omitted PB due to allergies and substituted vanilla extract with almond extract for a replacement nutty flavor. When prepping, I only added oatmeal (what the recipe calls for plus an extra 1/2 cup) and almond extract to bowl, mixed and set aside. I used a double boiler to melt my chocolate chips as I boiled the butter, sugar, and milk. I let this butter mixture boil for about double the time, then combined melted chocolate with butter mixture with a wire whisk. I then mixed the chocolate/butter mix into the oatmeal and added about a cup extra chocolate chips. I also used semi-sweet dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor. EVERYONE loves these! Made two dozen and they were gone in less than an hour!

  4. I used the exact recipe and method except instead I used 1/2 cup peanut butter and 1/4 cup more Oats than the recipe lists and they were delicious!! Make sure to boil for the full two minutes! (Start your timer when 3/4 of the pot is completely boiling) stir once every 45 secs

  5. It was better with 2 cups of oats instead
