Reviews

  1. I cooked it in a cast iron frying pan for 40 min in the oven and it was awesome! I also tried using quick oats instead of bran and that came out perfectly too. Nice to have a quick bread that is not sweet.

  2. My Mother was born in Ireland! Brown bread gets its name because it is made with one cup of molasses, buttermilk, wheat and white flour, salt and lo fat milk. It is a semisweet bread to eat with tea, or toast and jam for breakfast!

  3. Great recipe! I didn't have to change anything, worked perfectly. Have varied by using oats and also rye flour instead of bran and still great. Thank you.

Tweaks

  1. I converted this recipe to vegan by using almond milk that I soured with two teaspoons of lemon juice. I also added a teaspoon of salt. It turned out great!

  2. ½ cup of sugar, ¼ cup of bran, 1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon.
