Now This is Meatloaf!

"One of my very favorite dinners. This is my gramma's meatloaf, and the only one I'll eat. I do not accept any tomato products, chunks of veggies, hardboiled eggs or wild spices in meatloaf. If you need a meatloaf coated in ketchup this is not the one! Pure comfort food, and what could be better than leftover meatloaf in a sandwich."

  1. Meatloaf was moist and delicious, it also held together well when slicing. I added 1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper, 1 clove minced garlic, 1 T Worchestershire sauce, and 1 T spicy mustard. I made a packet of Knorr brown gravy and served over meatloaf. I think I have now found my perfect meatloaf! Thanks for posting ReeLani

  2. Very nice meatloaf, it reminds me of my grandmother's. This tasted really good, and as others have mentioned the meatloaf cuts and holds together well too. I reduced the milk to 3/4 C and used about 1 tsp of the poultry seasoning. I will make this again. Thx.

  3. Loved it! I actually liked the absense of tomato products. Most of my other meatloafs have ketchup and/or tomato soup. It was plain, but that's what I liked. It went great with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. It made even better meatloaf sandwiches! Great recipe!!!

  4. I followed directions except I didn't measure the seasonings (I am genetically predisposed to be a dump cook). I also added garlic. I was kind of skeptical about the poultry-seasoning in a meatloaf, but it turned out great and I will make this again...still with the garlic. :)

  5. WOW-Now this is the BEST, moistest meatloaf I have ever had! I have tried about 3 meatloaf recipes here on Zaars and as they were good, sorry to say this tops it!! Melt in your mouth DELICIOUS!! I added about 2 tablespoons of Chipotle BBQ sauce to the top about 15 minutes before it was done, just because I like the Chipotle BBQ sauce flavor on my meats, especially meatloaf. I hope this recipe is discovered by other Zaars members, cuz for those that love a meatloaf, this is the one. Thank you so much for posting and if I could rate 10 stars I would :) I will for sure make again. Sorry for the bad photo but my close-ups all came out blurry except for a few.

Tweaks

  1. Delicious and easy. Perfect for my fussy meatloaf person. I used sage instead of poultry seasoning, but thyme would work beautifully too. A permanent fixture in my repertoire. :-)
