  1. I appreciate you taking out your time trying to create a copycat Great Harvest Cookie recipe. I actually worked at one for 5 years as head baker and I loved our cookies. After doing some researching it was nice to see how many people enjoy Great Harvest. So I followed the recipe exactly to give it shot and just have a few notes. - Salt, Baking powder and baking soda should be all equate parts. - Less sugar. The recipe was close but a bit too much - There is no milk or molasses added. - Do not process the rolled oats, add the total amount along with the step below. - After you cream the butter and sugar, add all the dry ingredients along with the eggs and vanilla. Mix for two minutes on medium speed, then add chocolate chips. Lastly, mix the chocolate chips on low speed for 1 minute. - If the dough is too dry add water for adjustment. The dry:wet ingredient ratio was perfect by the way! I was very impressed this recipe and I hope my suggestions will help you have Great Harvest cookies year-round! Let me know if you needed anymore Great Harvest insight. -James

  2. Fabulous! Definitely a five star recipe. Hearty oats and flour give these guys a great chew while still retaining that classic "cookie" flavor (must be all that butter!) Next time I may add a bit more chocolate chips to satisfy my addiction. Also might slightly reduce salt because I tend to use salted butter.

  3. So Yummy! Made these last night and they were loved...i halved the recipe because this recipe makes so many...They were not too sweet which was good, i like sweet cookies but i dont like when cookies taste like nothing but sugar. The only thing i changed on the recipe was the chocolate chip amount...i added a little extra...maybe 1/2 cup more... I will definitly store this one away!!

  4. I followed the recipe exactly and mine are lacking flavor big time. They are a great texture but I suppose my family is too used to really sweet cookies. I won't be making them again.

  5. This is a very good recipe, but I think the COOK (me) made some kind of mistake. Mine were so thin and ran together, so I had to use a spatula to cut them into squares in the first 2 pans. I added another cup of oats and that seemed to help somewhat. What was good about this recipe is that they are chewy instead of crumbly. I sent the batch (even the square ones) to our ROTC cadet at LDAC at Ft. Lewis, WA. I wrapped stacks of 6 or 8 in plastic wrap and then put stacks in zip-lock bags. I think they will ship very well.

Tweaks

  1. I substituted dried cranberries and blueberries for the chocolate chips so I could take them on a road trip with no melting worries. They were great. The family was taking the extras home to have with coffee in the morning. This recipe is a keeper!
