  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In large bowl, mix shortening, sugars, and eggs together until creamy. Set aside.
  • In another large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and oats.
  • Add to sugar mixture.
  • Add milk and vanilla.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Drop onto greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.

  1. These were good. They are more cake-like and not the chewy gooey kind. I mixed all of the ingredients and let them sit for a few minutes before putting any on the baking sheet. I added about 1 tsp vanilla and no milk as stated in step 5. They don't spread out much so it is better to make them large and flattened out a little. I thnk I may add chopped pecans next time I make them.
