  1. My Aunt loves Oatmeal Raisin Cookies so I tried this recipe and added raisins. I didn't like the cookies at first so I added cinnamon to the dough. We all really liked the cookies after they had a chance to completely cool down. They are good with or without the added cinnamon. I cut the sunflower seeds down to 1/2 a cup and added 1 cup of raisins. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

  2. I cut the recipe in half to make 2 dozen excellent cookies. Added a quarter tsp of vanilla extract too. Added raisins to the second batch. Yum!

  3. 3 cups of oatmeal seemed a little over the top for me, so I halved the amount...As such, I bumped up the flour to 2 cups...I also added 1 teaspoon of vanilla...The results were nice and the sunflower seed/oatmeal combination unusual...I can't say I'll make these often, they're just too different...But once in a while, for sure!

  4. I was given a large coffee can of oatmeal with sunflower seeds. I will try this recipe but I will add 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 Cup raisins per the Quaker Oatmeal recipe. I simmer my raisins in a little water until they are plump, drain, then put them in the cookie dough.

  5. I used whole wheat flour and turbinado sugar in this recipe (I had been on a health kick, and this was all I had in the house). For anyone who's interested, these substitutions worked well. The sunflower seeds didn't seem to contribute a lot of flavor to the finished cookies, which surprised me.

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
