Oh My Mrs Mitchell's Munching Madness Morsels

"This simple but addicting little cookie recipe came from a dear friend's MIL, Mrs. Mitchell. It's very good, and you can throw it together in no time. Mrs. Mitchell states you must use 1 stick of butter and 1 stick of margarine/oleo (she likes Parkay). I've always made it with 2 sticks of real butter, and loved the result. Don't use a spread, they have too much oil and the 'sauce' won't thicken properly. You can also use other nuts besides pecans if you wish."

directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350º.
  • Lay the graham halves laid out on a cookie sheet before you make the sauce and have your chopped nuts ready to sprinkle before you make the sauce.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, margarine, and sugar and stir until it begins to boil.
  • Let boil for 2 minutes and remove from heat.
  • Use a small measuring cup or scoop to pour the buttery sauce over the graham crackers, covering the tops of the crackers with the sauce.
  • Sprinkle on the nuts and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Get your waxed paper laid out on the counter while they are still baking because you will need to get them off the cookie sheets right away, otherwise they will begin to set and stick.
  • Cool cookies and store in an airtight container.
  • You may need to hide some of them for yourself.
