Ohm Rice

"My parents inherited this recipe when we adopted my Korean sister. As odd as it sounds, it's surprisingly good. I prefer it without the egg or sauces and just drizzle it with butter and my dad eats it with egg and tabasco sauce. It's a matter of personal taste."

 1. Nice! I remember this from my 18 month tour in Korea back in the early 80's. Keeping it simple as I recall, I made this for my family and it was an instant hit. Add the soy, garlic, crushed red peppers to your liking, but prepare as described and it is orignal. Nicely done!

 2. I added 1 Tablespoon soy sauce while cooking and a dash of garlic powder. I think that the fried egg is what really brought it over the top.

 3. It was delicious, I added 3 crushed garlic cloves,2 Tbsp soy sause and 1 tsp red pepper flakes. Thank you for posting.

 4. I made this tonight, only I used it for a side dish with only a 1/4 of the meat. We liked this very much, we did use soy sauce at the table. I also cut the "omelette" into strips and placed them on top of the rice. My family liked it and said to make again. Thank you for sharing this yummy rice recipe.

 5. How awesome! And talk about simple! I was desperate for a simple recipe tonight and this fit the bill perfectly. I added lots more seasonings, including fire oil, garlic honey, and dried kung pao peppers. I also used a runny fried egg on top instead of an omelet. It was killer! Thank you for this, I'll be making it for years to come!

The artist FKA: CindyZ

My family and I live in a small town in mid-Michigan, where the summers are short and the winters are cold and long. I enjoy camping, swimming, biking, curling up with a good book, scrounging around garage sales (I'm forever the bargain hunter, hubby says I'm way too Dutch), gardening, watching Nascar (go Matt!) on Sundays and spending time with family, especially listening to stories from the older generations. I'm an RN, and am fortunate enough to be able to work only part-time so I can spend more time with my kids, ages 14, 9, and 6, and my sweet pug Lou, who is a year old. Two pet peeves worth mentioning are people who smack their gum and ignorance.
