Old Time Beef Stew

- 2 lbs stewing beef
- 3⁄4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 cups beef broth or 2 cups bouillon
- 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 -2 bay leaf
- 1 dash allspice
- 6 carrots, cut in pieces
- 6 medium white potatoes, cut in pieces
- 1⁄2 cup cold water
- 1⁄4 cup flour
directions
- Combine flour, paprika and garlic powder in a plastic bag. Coat stew beef in flour mixture and brown in hot oil in a large skillet; transfer to the crock pot.
- Add the remaininig ingredients except for 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup flour.
- Cook on low for 9-11 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, mix together the flour and cold water; add to the pot. Turn on high and cook until thickened.

<br>I guess the dish that I am famous for is my Christmas ham - my family all comes home for Christmas, and if i don't have my ham they are dissapointed, and my grandson wants the pistachio squares!!! so I guess that is the dishes that I'm famous for.
