  1. My variation on this which I use to make Christmas cookies for presents most years replaces the "chunk" package of Baker's chocolate and the nuts with 1 cup chocolate chips (I use Hershey's Special Dark) and 1 cup something cherry flavored (I started using an imitation cherry chip, but one year I couldn't find any more, I usually do half and half between 2 ingredients. This year I did 1/2 cup Cherry flavored Craisens and 1/2 cup Toll House Cherry Flavorfulls.) Also add 1/4 tablespoon cherry flavoring.

  2. These are awesome cookies. My kids want them made again very soon, so these will be in the cookie jar again soon! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I have not tried this recipe. The copy I got is slightly different. It calls for 1 tsp vanilla and 2 c chopped walnuts. The rest is the same. Thanks for posting. Christine (internetnut)

  4. My daughter used this recipe in a Girl Scout bake-off when she was in second grade and won her division. This year she is entering them in the fair. They are easy enough for s second grader to make (supervised) and yummy enough to win competitions.

I'm a "newbee" to this site, but not to cooking. I love great food and to share recipes and this site is great! I don't know where the information of a "fry cook" came from, but I would consider myself anything else but that :) A NYC girl originally, lived in London and Canada where I am now. Met lots of interesting people along life's way who taught me a great deal and enriched my life with their knowledge of cooking. With my children now adults, the family has doubled in size and my commitment to making memories to pass down to another generation inspires me to cooking. I find cooking a creative expression of one's personality and never tire of new challenges in the kitchen.
