Questions & Replies

  1. Is this really a 6-oz package of dry soup mix? The packet I have is less than 2 oz so I wondered if it would work.

Reviews

  1. Followed instructions exactly and the flour just clumped up. Soup/gravy never thickened. Waste of a soup packet.

  2. Thank you! This worked beautifully! 3 cups of water was terrific any more and it would have been TOO MUCH. This is what I did with your recipe. I heated 2 lbs of stew meat with 4tbls of butter, seasoned. When it was ready I added 6 tbl of flour, stirred. I added 3 cups of water, stirred and brought to a boil then added soup and frozen veggies. I should have added the veggies when I added the water. I let simmer for 30 min... Served over rice. HOLY cow. Terrific stew in under an hour. The pot is nearly gone.

  3. Shortcut and tweak: Make the soup mix with half the water (two cups) according to directions. Add a slurry of three tablespoons each of cornstarch and cold water, then simmer until thickened. Try it for breakfast over pierogi and eggs over easy.

  4. The recipe list says 3 cups of water but the instructions say 2 - what have others used?

  5. This worked great in a pinch! Not too salty either as I feared. I used Chefs Cupboard Beefy Onion from Aldis.
