Sweet Orange Butter

"Yummy as a spread on hot rolls or toast. Makes a great gift. Stores indefinitely in refrigerator. Indicative of man regions for ZWT especially those with citrus crops, pastries to top with fancy flavored butters and those countries who still observe TEA! France, Britain, etc... Note: This has a TON of sugar- thanks to fantastic reviewers I can offer this suggestion- start with 1/4 cup sugar (4Tbsp) - taste a bit and add more sugar to taste!"

  1. This is delicious, however, I just could not bring myself to add a whopping pound of sugar to less than 1 cup of butter! I added 4 Tablespoons and that amount was perfect. We eat this with #14988. Yum!

  2. im sorry this was not for me to sweet

  3. I made this butter to serve on rolls at dinner tonight. I loved it and my husband is still talking about how good it was. The flavor was so good and I can't wait to try this on homemade biscuits.

  4. I was expecting orange butter, what this is is orange frosting! Tasty though it is, it is extremely sweet. I started out having the recipe, but I doubled the butter to cut the sweetness. I didn't have any orange, I think that would give it a nice little edge. I'll be serving this with #144826.

  5. I made some homemade rolls for a neighbor last week, and wanted a flavored butter to accompany them, so I made your recipe after seeing it featured in Eater's Digest. I am so glad I did -- it's fabulous! I thought the sugar content was a little high, so I cut back on it by a little more than a half. It still whipped up nicely and was perfectly sweet! I also put the powdered sugar through a seive before adding it to the butter (just to prevent a possible gritty texture, which seemed to be a problem for another chef). I definately plan to make this recipe again; thanks Mama's Kitchen.
