Ingredients: 2 cups flour; 1/2 teaspoon baking soda; 1/2 teaspoon baking powder; 1/2 teaspoon salt (I use kosher); 2/3 cup shortening; 3/4 cup sugar; 1 egg; 2 tablespoons orange zest; 1/2 cup orange juice (I use freshly squeezed); 2 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted; 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted; 1 1/2 teaspoons orange juice (I use freshly squeezed, sometimes I have to add a bit more); 2 teaspoons orange zest

"This is a drop cookie recipe that my Grandmother and Mother made. I continue to make it to this day! Great with coffee in the morning too!"

ingredients

Dry Ingredients
2 cups flour
¹⁄₂ teaspoon baking soda
¹⁄₂ teaspoon baking powder
¹⁄₂ teaspoon salt (I use kosher)
Wet Ingredients
²⁄₃ cup shortening
³⁄₄ cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons orange zest
¹⁄₂ cup orange juice (I use freshly squeezed)
Icing
2 ¹⁄₂ tablespoons butter, melted
1 ¹⁄₂ cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 ¹⁄₂ teaspoons orange juice (I use freshly squeezed, sometimes I have to add a bit more)
2 teaspoons orange zest

directions

Combine the dry ingredients and set aside.
Mix wet ingredients in a stand mixer (or hand-held mixer).
Mix in the dry ingredients with the wet.
Drop the cookies using a small scoop and bake at 400 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
Mix up the icing and, once the cookies are cooled, ice and enjoy!
