I chose this recipe to use up some homemade squash puree and fresh orange juice that I had left over. I increased the spices, as recommended by other reviewers. And, I left out the granulated sugar. The only sugar I added was 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed). And, I thought they were still too sweet. Next time I will put in less than the 1/2 cup brown sugar. I did top the muffins with chopped nuts, combined with 1 Tb granulated sugar and some cinnamon. The muffins have a nice combination of flavors and nice texture. The recipe just has way too much sugar in it. Also, it says it serves 18, but this makes 12 muffins, so I would say it makes 12 servings.
