- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 2 1⁄2 lbs pork shoulder

Sauce
- 1 1⁄2 cups orange juice
- 3⁄4 cup soy sauce
- 1⁄2 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 pieces crystallized ginger
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 1⁄4 cup chopped leek
- 1⁄8 cup dry white wine
- 1⁄8 cup triple sec
- 1⁄4 teaspoon oriental five-spice seasoning
- 1⁄4 teaspoon anise seed (crushed)
- 1 (10 ounce) can mandarin oranges (garnish)
directions
- Heat wok or medium saucepan over medium heat for 1 minute.
- Add oil and when oil is hot add pork roast and brown on all side.
- In a separate bowl add all sauce ingredients and mix.
- Add orange sauce to the pork and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to medium low and cover pan and simmer for approximately 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
- Cool the roast and cut into paper thin slices and arrange on a platter.
- Garnish with mandarin oranges.
