  1. Preheat oven to 300F and lightly grease a tube pan.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together very well.
  3. Cream butter and sugar together.
  4. Add egg, molasses and anise seed; beat thoroughly.
  5. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternatively with the sour milk.
  6. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes or until cake tests done.
