Reviews

  1. I thought these were awesome. I used the flat bottomed taco shells. I don't understand how someone can give it less than five stars when they didn't follow the recipe exactly. It skewers the overall rating of the recipe.

  2. Great recipe! I use Ortega smoked chipotle taco sauce in lieu of the tomato sauce. I also use an entire package of Ortega taco seasoning to the refried beans and meat mixture. You can add as much taco sauce as you like, to your desired taste. Thank you for a great recipe!

  3. Love this recipe. Kept ingredients the same, but instead of mixing the beans in with the meat, I spread them on the Tortillas. Easy and tasty recipe, and so many ways to make it to your liking.

  4. 15 minutes is the perfect baking time for the shells. After reading all the reviews the one thing that I added and no one seems to have mentioned was the GUACOMOLE!!

  5. SO amazing. I used ground turkey and diced in some jalapeños. Definitely going to make these again, I love tacos

Tweaks

  1. I had some pulled pork on hand. I added a can of Rotell tomatoes and green chili's and some taco seasoning and warmed it up. I put some street taco shells in the micro wave ( corn & flour) with a wet paper towel. The corn ones I draped over 2 oven racks and baked for 5 min. or so. I assembled the taco in a pan with the meat and cheese and baked. I had some coleslaw mix that I added jalapeno peppers with some red onion and the juice of a lime some cilantro and a little sugar and white wine vinegar.

  2. I used ground turkey as I cannot have ground beef so I added salt, pepper, and garlic powder to add some of the flavor that ground turkey tends to lack.

  3. I added enchilada sauce to bean and meat mixture. It gave it a little more flavor.
