Oven Roasted Sweet Potato Fries

"I confess, I never liked sweet potatoes, but....OMG.....I absolutely love sweet potato fries!!! Sweet and Salty and Spicy all in one bite!! The combination of the spices give a rich deep taste that's delicious. These are crispy around the edges on the outside and tender on the inside, I just love these. They are so easy to make at home and are much healthier than frying. All it takes is just 2 large sweet potatoes and you have a large batch of delicious sweet potato fries that you won't be able to stop eating;). Enjoy!"

directions

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • 1. Cut the potatoes into 1/4″ thin strips, or to your desired thickness and length. Mix all other ingredients together in a large bowl and toss with the potatoes until they are evenly coated.
  • 2. Transfer the potatoes to a large baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Spread the potatoes in a single layer. Try not to overcrowd or have multiple layers of fries — you want them to be roasted, not steamed.
  • 3. Place in the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes, turning the fries once or twice during that time to cook evenly. May take more or less time, depending on the size and thickness you cut the fries.
  • Remove once the edges slightly begin to brown and fries begin to crisp. Sprinkle course salt on top when they are hot out of the oven.

Questions & Replies

  1. Wondering if you can freeze unbaked, seasoned sweet potato slices to quickly make fries in the future? Curious if anyone has tries this and if so, how would the baking directions differ?

  1. Really tasty sweet potato oven fries. Will make again. PRO TIP, you MUST roast these on your bottom oven rack to get them crispy.

  2. Made an addition to the recipe. After baking per the recipe, I deep fried them for 3 minutes at 375degrees. That added some crispness and additional flavor. Great recipe.

  3. So so good! The ideal bake temp & time for me was 400 F for 25 minutes. Also added a teaspoon of Italian Seasoning to the spice blend. Amazing!

  4. Amazing flavor! I made mine with coconut oil so they were slightly sweeter and I think that's the reason mine didn't get crispy. But I didn't care! They were amazing. The whole pan was gone and my company thought they were the best sweet potato fries they ever had. I didn't have smoked paprika on hand so I just used regular. I can't wait to try them with smoked paprika.

  5. These are delicious! Definitely the best sweet potato fries I have ever made, and my husband agrees! I lined my pan with aluminum foil, and it worked just fine. The cayenne is delicious, but it makes it quite spicy! I flipped the potatoes when they were half way through the cooking time to make sure they were extra crispy. Thank you for sharing this will be my go to recipe for sweet potato fries from now on!
