Overnight Banana French Toast

"I found this recipe on a card at Wal-Mart in their produce department. This is fabulous, the flavor and texture is so comforting and there is definately something about banana's and maple syrup. Give it a try, I'm sure you'll be as pleased as I am. I'm actually going to make this for Christmas breakfast this year."

  1. I was excited about it, but it ended up kind of bland. It needs a lot more flavor- I ended up smothering it in syrup. Also, as other reviewers mentioned, the cream cheese stays in lumps.

  2. This recipe was OK. I used our leftover challah. We are a family that loves cream cheese, but we didn't care for the cream cheese chunks that didn't melt. This recipe did give me the idea of adding bananas to our original overnight/company french toast, which is a favorite with my 3 young children. I think our other recipe works better for us because you use sliced bread without the crusts. We didn't care for the bread or cream cheese chunks.

  3. I wasn't as pleased with this dish as previous reviewers. It looked delicious as I was preparing it, but it came out a little too sweet for my taste. The cream cheese didn't smooth out and melt, instead it stayed in cubes. It was hard to avoid biting into big chunks of cream cheese. This one just didn't do it for me.

  4. We had this for breakfast this morning and it's a winner. It's not super sweet and my DH really liked that. I dusted it with powdered sugar when it came out of the oven and that's all it needed. This would work as a bread pudding type dessert as well as for breakfast.

  5. Made this for my daughters sleepover and it worked out great...really yummy. Will definitely make this again. I've already passed this recipe on to my SIL. I liked it best with powdered sugar dusted on top. I'm thinking you could probably leave out the cream cheese and the flavor would be just as good. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I live in Hot Springs, AR, but originally hail from the great windy city, Chicago. I have a house full of animals, all rescues, 8 parrots, 4 dogs and a cat. I am passionate about animals, especially ones that have been abused and neglected. If I had the money, I would buy a farm and fill it with animals that needed homes. I've been this way since I was a child and it seems I have passed my passion on to my daughter. How my poor husband puts up with us I don't know, buy he's a great guy and pitches right in with all the animals. He's a chef at a local resort (and an assistant zoo keeper when he gets home...lol).
