  1. Decadent indeed! This is the kind of recipe that I wish we could elaborate on the rating we give. If I could.....I'd give this recipe 5 stars for Creativity, because the drizzle of wine on the bread before toasting gave it a 'je ne sais quoi' quality that would be sorely missed if that step is overlooked. And it gets 5 stars for taste, as it was delicious with the prosciutto and mozzarella. And 5 stars for simplicity, because it was packed with flavor despite the simple list of ingredients and simple steps needed to make this sandwich. I loved it! I want to make this again using a better bread (I used a simple white sandwich bread since it's all I had on hand, though I think it'll be even more heavenly with a more flavorful bread.) Thank you for sharing your recipe, Mia. Made for the World Tour 2019 (Italy).

  2. This was delightful and a first time using wine in this unusual manner. I also added some fresh basil as Evelyn did to her pane. Bacon is a good sub for pancetta if you can't find the latter. I bought a seeded French bread from a local bakery and good quality cheese. Perfect with a late summer spring salad and a platter of olives! Made for the FYC tag game! Thanks, Mia!

  3. Made these for the kids tonight and used ciabatta. Rubbed the bread with a little nub of garlic for extra flavour and added just a smidge of basil as mozzarella is a great melting cheese but lacking in flavour. Prosciutto is like bacon - GOOD!!!
