Paper Mache Glue
"Works a treat for paper mache, just use paint brushes to get it on! We usually add a bit of food coloring so that we can see where we have painted it on."

- 3⁄4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1⁄2 cup cornstarch (in UK and Europe) or 1/2 cup cornflour (in UK and Europe)
- 3⁄4 cup cold water
directions
- Mix water, sugar, and vinegar in small saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil.
- Separate bowl: mix cornstarch and cold water.
- Water mix to VERY LOW heat.
- Add cornstarch mixture slowly to first mixture. Stir CONSTANTLY For about 2 minutes (keep an eye on it -- you know how corn starch is).
- Take off heat and let cool. Ready to use warm for paper mache but let sit til cool if using in glue bottle etc -- .

It's possible that I'm just over complicating the recipe, but what is meant by the third part of the recipe? As in, is the cornstarch mixture the one being mixed at a very low heat, or is the first mixture that we're doing the very low heat mixing to?

This is the only recipe I've ever tried, so I have nothing to compare to. Easy to make, it goes on easy, cleans easy. It is not incredibly sticky, but I kind of like that for the kids. I make this often! -
Quick and easy and worked great for my son's last minute paper mache project! -
Worked great!! I used brush to apply the glue, the second batch I doubled the recipe to find out that I only had 1/2 cup left of cornstarch. The second batch was better than the first as it was thinner and was able to pour on top of the pinata to apply an entire coating. -
I hadn't made paper mache` since I was really young, so this was a lot of fun. The consistency was quite a bit thicker than I remembered, but it works for my project. I added a little bit of food coloring so that I would be able to see where I put it. I used this to make little newspaper seedling pots. Just cut 2" strips of newspaper and wrap them around a dowel, then let them sit overnight to dry. Voila! Free seedling pots! Much better than the plastic ones you get from the store, plus you can just plant them right in the ground when they're ready. Thanks for posting this MSR.

I live in England. But I was raised in Georgia, USA. Yes yes, a southern girl through and through. I'm a student in a serious relationship with a brit. I'm a student studying English Literature and History, loving every minute I might add.
