Paula Deen's Nutty Orange Coffee Cake

"I haven't made this yet, but it looked so good when Paula was making it with her sons on the Mother's Day episode, I had to post it here! It took them less than 10 minutes to put this together...."

directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, pecans, and zest; set aside.
  • Score and cut the cream cheese into 20 equal pieces, approximately 3/4 teaspoons each. Separate the biscuits.
  • Place about 3/4 teaspoon cream cheese in the center of each biscuit. Fold each biscuit in half over the cheese, pressing the edges to seal.
  • Dip the biscuits in melted butter, then dredge in the granulated sugar mixture. Place the biscuits, curved-side down, in a single layer in the hollows of a lightly greased 12-cup bundt pan, spacing them evenly (do not stack). Place any remaining biscuits around the tube, filling any gaps. Drizzle any remaining butter over the biscuits, and sprinkle with any remaining sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Immediately invert the cake onto a serving platter.
  • Combine the confectioners' sugar and orange juice, stirring well; drizzle the glaze over the warm cake. Serve warm.

  1. I have been making this for years. Great for brunch with the family, a gals get together, or for the family down the street! This recipe is so easy, even the kids can do it! The house smells wonderful while making it! Always puts me in the Christmas spirit, even when its not Christmas!!

  2. I've made this several times. Great for brunch or Xmas morning... I used 2 cans of Grands and it takes longer to cook, but makes a larger "taller" bundt. Just cover with foil for about half the cooking time, or the tops will be overdone.

  3. Neighbor brought us this knowing we were busy with house guests and entertaining for a big Oktoberfest.. YUM.. She said something about eating it warm.. but we have to confess that it never got that far.. Tastes great at room temp..

  4. I made this for my family over the Christmas holidays and everyone loved it! I had difficulty getting mine to cook thru in the time alloted but wonder if this was related to the silicone pan I used.

  5. I would give this coffee cake more than five stars if I could! It tastes great--love the cream cheese and orange zest. It also makes a beautiful presentation. I did need to cook mine for about 45 minutes. Make sure that it is good and brown on the top, because the insides--especially more toward the middle need to get a chance to get cooked through. Otherwise, you will have uncooked dough on the inside. Thanks for a keeper, Raquel!

I am a married cruise-only travel agent with two stepsons, aged 20 and 25. It took a while to get the boys used to my cooking, as they were raised on fast food and pre-packaged foods (i.e. mac-n-cheese from the blue box, frozen dinners, Chef Boyardee, McDonalds, etc.). My mother is from Spain and I lived there as well as Germany, England and Italy growing up, which influenced both my career and my cuisine!</p> 8726943"
