Peanut Butter Cereal Treats

"Kids will love these colorful, crunchy bars from Christie Porter in Shipshewana, Indiana. They’re a fun twist on the traditional marshmallow crispy treats…and because they’re so easy, older kids could whip up a batch on their own! From Quick Cooking 2008"

  1. I'm not sure if I can give these a really accurate rating as I didn't actually get to taste them, but they disappeared at a recent get together even though there was lots of other yummy food, so they must have been pretty decent. I actually used peanut butter cheerios because I couldn't find peanut butter cap'n crunch, but I think any peanut butter cereal would work. I guessed on the amount of marshmallows because we didn't have the large ones. Also instead of mixing in the m&ms I oiled my hands and pressed them over the top of the treats while they were still warm. That worked great. I was afraid the colors would run if I mixed them in. I found some red, white, and blue m&ms that worked well for fourth of july. This is a fun recipe that I think kids would definitely enjoy, but I think Recipe #396857 is still my favorite cereal bar. This recipe was also printed in the May/June 2007 issue of Simple and Delicious.

  2. We made these for our Christmas trays ( I'm playing catch-up on reviews) and they were a great addition. I used holiday M&M's and they looked festive and tasted really yummy. They are a bit hard to get into the pan, but with a bit of work I got them....lol. I will use this recipe again, they are really good. Thank you for sharing this tasty recipe.

I like recipes that use ingredients that are already in my pantry. I won't bother with recipes that include ingredients that I have to hunt down.
