  1. Preheat oven to 350*.
  2. Put sugar, crisco and water in heavy pan and heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and add chocolate and vanilla.Beat in eggs, one at a time, set aside.
  4. Sift flour, baking soda and salt, gradually stir into chocolate mixture --
  5. Using slightly dampened hands, spread 3/4 of the batter into a greased 8" square pan.and then spread with PECAN FILLING:.
  6. Beat egg white till foamy, add water and vanilla and gradually beat in sugar.set aside.
  7. Mix together pecans, flour and salt and fold into egg mixture.
  8. top with remaining batter and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool --
  10. Cut into 2" squares.
